How Does Publishing a Book Help Your Business?

While writing a book about yourself can help people connect to you as a person, giving them a blueprint on how your business is suited for them is a key way to help market yourself. Talk about how you arrived where you are today and give value– by doing this, it creates a physical memory of you being an expert in your niche.

Whether it’s a digital or a physical book, publishing a book is a great way to brand yourself. Depending on your marketing tactic, be it a meet and greet or a convention–if you’re meeting potential clients and customers face to face, having a physical book in hand, with your face on the cover will always leave a lasting impact. Not to say this doesn’t hold true for digital downloads! Digital books are equally effective but at the end of the day it all depends on your marketing strategy.

Publishing a book creates an opportunity for you to communicate with your intended audience. How? Publishing a book with your name gives you authority over your niche and establishes you as an expert. After reading your book, people will understand that if they have questions about certain things, they know exactly who to come to: you.

How to Get Started with Publishing a Book

If you’re someone that has difficulty writing or doesn’t know where to start, think about how you learn. Your learning style can be leveraged to help you publish your book. For example, you can hire a freelance ghostwriter to convert your thoughts into captivating words that will engage your audience.

ChatGPT is a great way to get started in figuring out where to start. Inputting a theme for your book and using it as a base, is a helpful way to supplement your ideas to complete your book.

Storytelling and story sharing is an excellent way to connect to your target audience. Use case studies that you performed in figuring out your business, or helping a client, and educate your reader on your process. Doing this markets your brand and again, establishes authority in your niche. While you may feel that writing your processes in a book would possibly deter your customers from contacting you–it’s simply not true. By educating your readers, you’re seen as an expert and will be the “go-to” when it comes to problem-solving in your niche.

Give enough information that establishes a connection but not so much that pushes you out of the picture.

What Do You Do After Publish Your Book?

There are different ways to market your book. If you’re not comfortable speaking at public events, using marketing strategies like Pinterest Marketing, or Affiliate Marketing are options to do so. Vanessa mentioned blog writing and that is also a great way, along with Social Media Marketing, to promote your book.

Partnering or collaborating with influencers in your niche, or with people that already have an established audience, is another way to market your brand. Network with people that have similar interests or complementary niches, where you can form a networking group not to just promote your own book, but maybe help out others as well. For example, if you’re a chef, you can partner up with people with cookware businesses, or even people with established restaurants, etc…

Publishing a book is a great way to establish authority and stand out from others in your niche. While it’s a great way to educate others, it acts as a physical marketing tactic in scaling your business.
